United States Carbon Trading Markets
Posted on November 26, 2008
I just wanted to inform everyone that I launched a new website that I have been working on for a while and that I am very excited about - USCarbonReport.com The site will be dedicated to following the evolving US carbon markets and providing information for anyone interested.
The next few years should be very interesting for the United States. With Obama getting elected and democrats in control of Congress, it is very likely that the United States will institute a national carbon cap and trade system sometime over the next couple years. As anyone following this industry knows, it has the potential to be bigger than the EU ETS.
Currently, there is really only one functional compliance carbon market, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), and one voluntary carbon market, the Chicago Climate Exchange. There are also two other regional United Stated carbon markets in the world, the Western Climate Initiative and the Midwestern Greenhouse Gas Accord.
I plan to provide news and interesting tidbits about the current and future carbon trading markets on a daily basis, and it will be getting 100% of my attention. So please check it out and bookmark it if you like it. Any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - TrevorCarbon at gmail dot com.
